SEO services – when cheap isn’t cheap
Search engine optimisation is a large and lucrative industry, even now in 2015 when it is no longer as cool as it once was. This being the case, a lot of people are getting in on the action.
The barriers to entry can be low, with many seo consultants who have never actually ranked any website well in any market setting themselves up in business and grabbing new clients. Many direct sales professionals have gotten in on the seo act. As one experienced ( and competent ) seo consultant once said to me ‘seo is 90% sales and 10% seo these days’.
In view of this, the competition is fierce, and fierce competition leads to commoditisation – yes, unfortunately, in this kind of situation the lowest bidder nearly always wins.
I’m sure you can already see where I’m going with this: if you hire the lowest priced seo agency that you can find, you are likely to run into difficulties. And it isn’t just a simple matter of wasting your money either – with google penguin over optimisation penalties being dished out left and right, the future of your website in the search engine results pages is at risk.
Now, this is not to say that lower cost seo services cannot produce good results. They can – we know because we offer inexpensive solutions ourselves. What we are saying is this: do not make price the primary factor when deciding who to employ to optimise and promote your website in the SERPs.
Effective seo costs money and it is getting more expensive all the time. The more competitive the vertical you are in, the more expensive search engine optimisation will be for you.
