If you’ve been thinking about starting a blog but have placed it on the back burner simmering away for far too long, it’s time to take action, no more waiting… the road to success begins here. Blogging doesn’t have to take all day every day – just get started and focus on quality over quantity.
In this post you’ll find out why it’s so important for you to make a start on your blogging success story. In this post I’ll be sharing with you a few reasons why you should consider starting a blog that matters in 2018.
1. The Web Needs More Blogs, The Web Needs your blog…
So does the world need more blogs? Does the world have room for your blog?
Even though there are hundreds perhaps even thousands of blogs being born every day, in every possible topic or niche industry imaginable, we still need more blogs.
Whether you want to share your latest videos, photos, tips and advice or use a blog to promote your business, there are thousands of readers out there waiting to read your content.
The web isn’t running out of space, yes the web needs more blogs, more resources and more valuable content, it needs your blog, which is one reason alone why you should consider starting a blog that matters in 2018.
2. Content is the Fuel of the Web
Over the course of 2018 so far Google has continued to make it very loud and clear that fresh, useful, user friendly, targeted and engaging content is what’s important to the end user. Content is the fuel of the web and blogs certainly have a high and mighty place of pride in it.
Whether you incorporate video, pod-casting, social platforms or photos, providing useful and valuable content that will help and benefit thousands of people searching for them everyday, and at the same time provide you with a sustainable business model, is what really matters.
I talk to many people on a daily basis about starting a blog and many of them want to know ‘how do you become successful in blogging’, whether they’re starting a blog for the first time, or want to promote an existing one.
Of course this is a question that could indeed take a whole blog in itself to answer, but we know that the way to be successful in blogging is to start a blog that resonates with your audience. That is so, so important.
To be successful in blogging, you need build a blog that gives you the power to connect with your audience on multiple levels. To be successful in blogging you need to make a real difference, provide a different perspective that will woo your followers… you simply need to start a blog that matters.
Starting a Blog That Matters in 2018
We talked about the statistics and the number of blogs that are being born every day, the question you’re probably asking is how the heck do you create a blog that really matters, how do you get noticed in the dense forest of millions of blogs out there?
I read blogs every day, I’ve probably thousands of them since I started blogging myself, but these days I probably only stay tuned to a couple hundred of them, and probably only a dozen of them provide content that matters most to me.
Here are some top tips:
1. Give your audience a reason to subscribe and follow
Why should I read your blog? What do you have to offer me that is so different from what others are offering? Why should I enter my name into your email opt-in box? Why should I follow you on Twitter? Your audience is the lifeblood of your blog and it’s success, without it you simply will not succeed, simple. So for every piece of content you put out, for every rule of engagement you make, give your audience a reason to follow you.
2. Don’t just tell them, show them too
I could write a post everyday telling you what you should do to increase traffic or make more money from affiliate marketing or how to increase followers on Twitter etc. Guess what! So can thousands of other bloggers out there. Don’t just tell your audience how, show them how. Readers love seeing proof! but at the same time they also love reading how you got their in the first place…
3. Give your audience bags of gold dust, labelled ‘content’
Gold is expensive so don’t bother buying any to give away to your readers. Instead give them the absolute equivalent in the form of content. Make your content so valuable that it gets shared many times over and the echoes of your audience talking about it can be heard far, far away. Give them content that will help them effectively, and content that they will remember you for, for many days to come.
4. Connect using every given opportunity
Distribute your content and connect with your audience on multiple platforms every single day, whether it’s Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus or you’re actively engaging on forums, emails, attending social events and expos, wherever you have the opportunity to, make a connection with someone, do it.
5. Build authority
Identify what it is you’re really good at and nail it further, in other words, become an expert. For example, if you’ve mastered the art of building twitter followers, be known about it. A wizard at creating epic YouTube videos, shout about it. Create an eBook or a podcast and become an authority in your field of expertise.
